Xiaomi M2 – Specs Review: Quad Core Android 4.1 JellyBean 4.3-inch IPS 2GB RAM 16GB ROM

It seems like the era of Quad Core Android smartphones is now starting. Xiaomi brings us an advancement of its previous flagship phone which was the Xiaomi M2 One Plus, joining the Quad-Core Android smartphones race with the new Xiaomi M2 as its entry.

The Xiaomi M2 is also referred to as the Xiaomi X2, Xiaomi Mi II, or Xiaomi Mi 2.

I cant help but be impressed by the feat of this monster phone from China. Its obviously way more cheap compared to other branded quad core Android smartphones on the market, plus its now on Android 4.1 JellyBean. Read further for the detailed specs review of this Xiaomi M2/X2 phone.

The Xiaomi Mi 2 sports the latest MSM APQ8064 Krait processor, clocked at 1.5 GHz. This device is the first commercial device to have this kind of quad-core chip in-house. Partnered with that, is an Adreno 320 GPU that is also a good performer in terms of HD gaming and smooth multimedia processing and playback.

This Xiaomi M2 is among the first quad-core smartphone to have Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (JB) OS running out of the box. With “Project Butter” implemented on JB, experience heaven with this seemingly lag-free phone. It also has support on English, Chinese, and other languages. The offered memory of this Xiaomi X2 is another stand-out among other existing Android smartphones. It is packed with 2GB RAM, that is obviously a guarantee of seamless multi-tasking, you’ll never have to worry about your RAM usage. It also has a 16GB of ROM, and this internal storage memory is still even expandable with a micro SD memory card; supporting up to 32GB maximum capacity.

This beast phone is slated on its 4.3 inches, IPS capacitive multi-touch screen. It is IPS so every viewing angle is  pleasing to the eye. Added to that is its very clear HD resolution at 1280×720 pixels, which is a guarantee of vivid and crisp display. Based on my experience, the qHD screen is already very much efficient on a 4.3″ device, what’s more with a HD screen?

Unlike other China phones, this Xiaomi X2/M2 isnt a dual-SIM capable phone. It only supports single SIM, and with GSM/WCDMA as well. This phone is totally unlocked and supports GSM services all over the world.

The Xiaomi Mi II have a great duo of snappers. Its main rear camera is an 8.0 megapixels with Auto Focus and LED Flash cam that is set with F/2.0 aperture. Its front-facing secondary camera is a 2.0 megapixels snapper, great for self-portraits and video calls. Main camera supports recording of 1080p HD videos at up to 90fps video recording rate.

Battery-wise, the Xiaomi Mi 2 also has a battery juice that is superior among other handsets with its Polymer Li-ion battery rated at 2000 mAh. Store says that you can as well optionally get a 3000 mAh battery pack at your choice. Wow! That’s great, imagine this; you can use your smartphone for many days up to a week even from just a single charge. How awesome is that? You will never have to worry about getting battery-low and freaked on doing the stuff you could possibly do just to save up your phone’s battery juice.

Here’s some promotional posters of this Xiaomi Mi 2 phone, showcasing its specs. Texts are on Chinese and I cannot even understand it at all. But comprehending on the illustrations:

I am guessing that its fairly just, as you can connect the Xiaomi M2 on a big TV screen via HDMI-out, and play 3D and high-definition games on a 1080p display.

Verdict

If you have the bucks to spend, then the Xiaomi M2 is the perfect phone you can have now. At all aspects, I can give it two-thumbs-ups’. There isnt anything much to hate about this device, except for the screen size I guess; I just thought about having this on 4.7″ and less than 5″ will be better. However, its a piece of heaven already! This is really a recommended “must buy”.

Let me list some for you; what I like about the new Xiaomi M2:
