HDC Galaxy S3 EX/Star B92M Android 4.1.2 JellyBean Update, Rooting, and GPS Fix

HDC Galaxy S3/Star B92M Android 4.1 JellyBean Update
For a refresher, the HDC Galaxy S3 EX and the Star B92M are very much similar to each other. Both are really close S3 knock-offs, featuring 4.7 inches screen with 1080×720 pixels in resolution. This JellyBean update adds the support for the following languages: bahasa indo/melayu, deutsch, english, espanol, francais, italiano, netherlands, portugues, brazil/portugal, turkce, puccknn and other asian languages.
All the files you need can be downloaded from this link, its a 400MB archive hosted on torrent.
Some reports say that after they had used this JellyBean firmware update on their phones with 1GB of RAM in configuration, the phone wont recognize that amount of RAM. There is already a support-discussion about this phone unit on XDA-forums. Here’s the tip to get the 1GB of RAM fully working:
- Download this archive file.
- Suppose you already have flashed the Android 4.1.2 JellyBean ROM, flash again what you can get on that archive except for the boot.img and delete as well the preloader_vanzo77_twn_jb.bin file inside.
- After flashing, go into recovery mode by holding the power + volume up button at the same time when booting the phone. Do a factory reset and reboot the system.
- Done! You now have a 1GB of RAM on configuration.

My phone (Star B92M) came with 1GB of RAM, After applying the update, only 512MB of RAM are available.
It is possible to recover the missing 512MB of RAM?

Hi all can any one please help me my star one b92m 1gb. Will not root I paid for root service from fastcardtech and it just will not root I’ve spent the last two weeks trying every think what am I doing wrong???? The phone has belly bean 4.1.2 but won’t root its almost seem like the phone its self is missing software that makes this run. I have the same problem like william. My B92M has already Jelly bean installed (v4.1.2) – everything I tried failed. I used Binary v1.8 – failed. Binary v.1.7 seems to work well – but failed also.
i need it just rooted – all other methods failed too.

I have the s3 EX v2. Rooted by FCT. nfortunately in chinese. Enter recovery by holding down menu. Is it possible to exchange recovery image with the same method as described? I have large battery drainage, haven’t got a solution to that. ( also disappointed at FCT, said it was 1,2 GHz but is only 1,0. Doesn’t answer email either)

not so sure, can you tell me the source for that? If you plan to flash that, just be sure do a backup of your stock rom first so in case you end up with an incompatible rom, you can always go back.

I´ve a HDC Galaxy S3 EX V2 ,And I have the problem of RAM, but do not understand how you explained how to fix it, I downloaded the 2.5gb file-data-perm-root, but is not that I do to recover the memory.
Now same the phone has 4.1.2.

Hay guys I’m back I have the 512mb ram problem instead of having 1gb ram and keep getting low memory in top right hand corner some reason flash tool not working for me this time its just not running just wanted to know is it correct to use the flash tool and files from b92m411/file and the 2.5 file to fix the ram or is their away to fix this through cwm please help if you can or if you have had this problem and have got your ram back to 1gig please guide me on how to do this thankz

For anyone having issues with having only 512MB after flashing JB, this is what I did:
first Copy all the files except boot.img from / 2.5GB-data-perm-root folder into / b92m411/FILE NECCESSARI folder.
second Delete preloader_vanzo77_twn_jb.bin inside / b92m411/FILE NECCESSARI folder.
third Flash using flashtool untill the green mark appears.
4th Unplug your phone then boot into recovery (volume up + power).
5th Thurs factory reset, then reboot system Voila! Now you have 1GB of RAM. If you want 2.5GB internal memory (not phone memory), flash and preloader.img EBR1 only inside / 2.5GB-data-perm-root folder by Flashtool. Then boot into recovery, go to mount and storage, format / data. Reboot your phone.
If you try this let me know about the results

I have samsung galaxy S3 Clone (not sure which model exactly). The GPS does not work in my phone as well. Can you suggest if this fix will work for it as well.
Also I do not have the box or any original accessory. Is there any other way to find out the model number?? I looked beneath the battery but could not find anything.
